Goats Cheese & Caramelised Onion Tart

Try this goats cheese and caramelised onion tart, with a twist. For extra flavour add either of the spice blends while the onions cook. For this recipe, the Festive Spice Blend was used to give an extra depth and different flavour...delicious!!


  • Small bag of red onions

  • Knob of butter

  • 3 tablespoons of Demenara sugar

  • 100ml balsamic vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon of either spice blend

  • Asparagus

  • Puff pastry sheet


Get a small bag or red onions, quarter them and add them to a deep frying pan with a knob of butter, a glug of oil, 3 tablespoons of Demerara sugar. (If you prefer, you can use honey instead of sugar), 100ml of balsamic vinegar, 1 tablespoon of spice blend of your choice and let soften on a low heat for around 30 mins.

For the base, simply use a trusty puff pastry sheet. Oven on as per directions, and cook for 5 mins.

Fry up some asparagus in the meantime.

Puff pastry out, spread a thin layer of onions, asparagus and crumble goats cheese on top. Cook for around 20 mins.
